General Radiology (X-ray)

xray

One of the oldest and most frequently used forms of medical imaging is an X-ray. At ImageSouth, we perform digital X-ray imaging, which is the “gold standard” of today’s medical imaging practices. Special care is taken by our technologists during X-ray exams to ensure maximum safety for the patient.

What to expect during and X-ray

There is no preparation needed for an X-ray exam; however, you may be asked to change into a gown to eliminate interference from metal objects in clothing. You will be asked to lie on an X-ray table where it may feel cold and you may experience some discomfort due to the hard surface. Some exams may be performed standing or sitting. If your X-ray is the result of an injury, the technologist may require you to hold an uncomfortable position for a few seconds. It is important to remain very still as any movement could result in the need for additional imaging. Your technologist will make every effort to shield your body from unnecessary radiation, and you may be asked to wear a lead gown for protection.  Please advise the technologist if you are pregnant or think you may be.

ImageSouth technologists are experienced in high quality patient care. Communication with your technologist is vital in ensuring your comfort, as well as the attainment of quality diagnostic images.
